We found two of our MENASA divas on the red carpet; Salma Hayek, and Fan Bingbing.

The gorgeous Salma Hayek, of Lebanese ancestry was looking spectacular at the premiere of the movie she is starring in: Madagascar 3 in her Gucci gown. She was accompanied by her husband François-Henri Pinault, a French businessman.

Fan Bingbing is a Chinese actress and singer. The 30-year-old actress was screening for “Moonrise Kingdom”, looked stunning wearing a multi-colored strapless gown by Christopher Bu. She added Chopard earings and was carrying a Lebanese designer green and gold clutch by Elie Saab.

This exhibition is a part of the Dar al Mussawir’s project, aiming to support photographers in the Arab world. Nadia Al Amri, Oman-born, is one of them. Her photography contains erratic and vibrant portraits full of movement and colour. In her works, she attempts to convey her thoughts and dreams to the viewer in a distinctly surreal style.

“La Triennale is not an exhibition that is about bringing something Paris has not seen before but it is about being part of this developing and growing narrative in a space that has been a primary institution over the past ten years, in terms of different methodologies of exhibition making, the discursive as well as the critical dimensions between art and thought, art and life. Most importantly, La Triennale wants to create a space of intellectual generosity.” Okwui Enwezor, Artistic director

Selma Feriani Gallery presents ‘Point Fragile’ a group show curated by Khadija Hamdi.
The works explore the use of paper in different forms, the sobriety of the non-colour, the fragility of the subject and in some cases, the use of simple materials and fragile everyday objects.

Gallery Isabelle van den Eynde presents ‘I Put It There, You Name It.’ For this exhibition, Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh and Hesam Rahmanian, in a departure from the formalized structures associated with the presentation of contemporary art, will transpose the ambience they share in their Dubai house, studio and garden to the gallery. Ordinary, functional and art objects mingle in improbable assemblages, blurring the boundaries between production and authorship, art and its interplay with its surroundings. The trio creates a fascinating environment that reveals a culture of accumulation through which intriguing meetings and narratives emerge candidly.
We seek, in this extract of their lives, to interact with the works as the artists do, defining and redefining according to our desires. The functions of the gallery space – exhibiting specific works, of specific values, with specific intentions – are nullified now.
The Haerizadeh brothers, exiled since 2009, have been working on individual and collaborative projects for many years, previously in Tehran and now in Dubai. Hesam Rahmanian, a childhood friend of the brothers, left Iran to study in the USA before joining them here in Dubai. This exhibition is born, and presents a natural depiction, of the trio’s collective existence since their reunion. Each of the three artists continues to work on individual projects, driven by deeply personal obsessions and cultures. ‘I Put It There You Name It’ is the space, both abstract and literal, in which these three fiercely individual and motivated artists meet.
