THE ROBERT MOUAWAD PRIVATE MUSEUM

This Arab Palace, built by Mr. Henri Pharaon in 1911, near the “Grand Serail” (the headquarter of the Prime Minister), is located in the Central District of Beirut. This 100-year-old palace was revived to become Robert Mouawad’s museum. It is mainly inspired by his private collection, but you can also find the precious collection of Henri Pharaon. The museum contains jewelry, metal work, antiquities, icons, Islamic pottery, Chinese porcelain, carpets and books. You will enjoy, in the jewelry section, a unique and precious diamond of 69 carats “the Excelsior” that was brought by jeweler Robert Mouawad himself. You will also see the very first printed Koran, steles of Palmyra, and a very rich library, with tales of travelers. The Robert Mouawad Private Museum constitutes an important cultural heritage and is a reference in the Middle East.
